Camp Saturna welcomes groups of students in grades 5 – 8 to come and take part in our outdoor education program. This program integrates environmental education and outdoor recreation activities with a curriculum focused on environmental science, building and strengthening a bond with nature, and achieving the benefits of being active. Our Mission
Camp Saturna provides students with a quality outdoor education experience through hands-on, field based environmental science lessons and outdoor recreation activities.
Our outdoor education objectives include:
- Meeting Washington State environmental education requirements (WAC 392-410-115(6)).
- Providing environmental education instruction that follows the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) where applicable and appropriate.
- Encouraging team building and leadership skills.
- Building a connection between the students and the North Cascades foothills ecology and natural history.
- Providing a safe, fun, and dynamic learning environment for participants.
Camp Saturna provided the backdrop for part of an NPR story about outdoor learning via Mount Baker, Blaine, and Bellingham School Districts' Connections program during the coronavirus pandemic.
